Diffusealicious- the easiest way to have a beautiful calm smelling home

Scent. It is a magical thing and the closest thing we have to time travel at this moment. The smell of you grandmas perfume or a certain hair gel you used for that one summer and you are instantly transported back.

There is also oodles of science behind scent and how it affects our brains! I had a work colleague who always studied with the same essential oil blend and then before a test would smell the oil to bring back all that information. She swore by it.

Scent also has a big affect on our emotions and well being. Look, I understand. We have all had days where there is not enough lavender in the whole universe to counter the effects of the stresses of the world. I am not going to lie and tell you there are no more bad days coming, ever, but this helps for the minor bumps a long the way.

I am obsessed with having a nice smelling home. Maybe it is because I have a cat and I am ultra diligent to not have a cat smelling home lol. But honestly on Friday night and or Saturday morning when I just need to clue in its chill time My diffusers have to be on!

I fell in love with diffusing because I can not stand commercial air fresheners and chemical smells. (not to mention they are unhealthy for both you and your pets) When I was small my mum had purchased the candle diffuser (The BodyShop baby!) and I always loved it! Just not when the oil ran dry but the candle kept going. Burnt oil is not pleasant. So when I first saw these diffusers I knew it was the answer.

They are simple to use. You plug it in, add tap water to the full line, and then depending on how strongly you like your scents add 5-10 drops of your choice of essential oil or blend. Depending on your machine and settings you can have it on for 1-7 hours. I also love that it adds moisture to the air, especially for our dry Ontario winters. I try to clean mine once a week if I am using it regularly, every two weeks for less use. I simply unplug it and bring it to the sink where I use hot water and my natural dish soap and gently scrub the oily residue off the base and lid. Rinse and dry. It takes only a few minutes.

I have owned several diffusers over the years and have found most to be efficient defiant of cost. In my opinion spending the money on good essential oils is more important than the diffuser itself.

Below are my favourite oils and two diffusers I really like! Enjoy!
